Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering-Technip consortium has booked one offshore platform, valued at about $560m, from Danish state-owned energy company DONG E&P A/S, the consortium announced on February 27.
The South Korean shipbuilder would take charge of engineering and construction of its topside, totalling about $200m of overall about $560m. Daewoo plans to construct at its Okpo yard and make delivery in April 2015.
The platform produces 35,000 barrels of crude oil in a day. In particular, as the platform would operate in the North Sea under a rough climate and environment, the platform should pass through NORSOK Standard of Norway.
Daewoo said, "Amid soaring oil price due to threatening situation in the Middle East, some oil-field development projects in the North Sea are in progress. Daewoo would do aggressive business for the North Sea offshore plant market."
Meanwhile, Daewoo has contracted overall six vessels/offshore facilities, totalling $760m, year-to-date.
