Norwegian transport conglomerate Fjord1 has recently ordered three electric ferries from compatriot shipyard Havyard Ship Technology in Leirvik. The contract has a value of close to NOK500m (US$57.4m).

According to the shipbuilder, the work and construction of the three ferries starts immediately, and the first vessel is due to be delivered in the middle of May 2018. The remaining two electric ferries are set for delivery towards the end of 2018.

Hull constructions are taking place elsewhere, and the first hull will be ready for outfitting in Leirvik at the end of 2017.
