Ceres Offloads Brand-New Capesize
Ceres Shipping has sold another of its brand-new bulk carriers, this time a capesize delivered from Japan's Imabari shipyard this February, according to brokers.
Red Ivy (181,200dwt) was reportedly sold to Alpha Bulkers Shipmanagement of Greece for US$35.8m.
This is the second capesize Alpha Bulkers has acquired so far this year, having purchased Obelix (181,400 dwt, built 2011) from Star Bulk in January for US$23.3m.
Ceres, which is headed by Peter G Livanos, sold its brand-new ultramax Red Daisy (61,300 dwt) to Japanese interests in March for US$18.75m, including its charter. The vessel was delivered in April from the Iwagi Zosen shipyard in Japan.
Following these sales, Ceres has two newbuildings remaining: the ultramax Aquaprima (61,000 dwt) at Imabari and the MR2 product tanker Largo Sea (50,300 dwt) at SPP in South Korea. Both ships are scheduled for delivery from the yards this year.
