August witnessed 68 scrapping ships traded with a total tonnage of 2,860,483 dwt, declining by 21.84% compared with the volume of last month. The average scrapping rate gained slight rise. The average age and tonnage separately stood at 30.02-year-old and 42.066 dwt.

China, India, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Turkey respectively secured 8.6%, 58.8%, 9.3%, 6.5% and 0.8% of the total volume.

Totally 2.9m-dwt vessels were scrapped in the month, of which 700k dwt were tankers and 1.9m dwt were bulkers. China, India, Bangladesh and Pakistan scrapped 400kdwt, 1.4m dwt, 400k dwt and 100k dwt respectively.
