Dalian COSCO KHI Ship Engineering Co., Ltd. (DACKS), jointly invested by COSCO and KHI, held a steel cutting ceremony for a 61,000dwt bulk carrier to be built for an unidentified owner based in China, a domestic shipping news portal reported.

The vessel is the first one of a series of two for the owner.

The vessel measures 199.9m in length, 32.24m in breadth moulded, and 18.6m in depth moulded, with a designed speed of 15.8 knots. It is expected to be delivered to the owner at the beginning of 2017.
