Chinese Shipbuilders' offshore newbuilding orders from the end of Q3 to Q4 are predicted to increase, in times when South Korea and Singapore yards are taking most of newbuilding orders in Offshore field.
An official from ABS (The American Bureau of Shipping) said that China would be able to secure larger newbuilding order for offshore plant, considering its successful delivery of ships and stable financing support, with continued uptrend of oil price.
Shipyards from South Korea and Singapore recently swept most of new orders for offshore plant.
In July, Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering and Samsung Heavy Industries of South Korea inked two semi-submersible rigs and 2+2 drillships, respectively, Singapore's Keppel booked two jack-up rigs and Sembcorp Marine won two jack-up rigs and one offshore platform. Mitsui Ocean Development & Engineering Co from Japan penned one FPSO conversion.
Meanwhile, in China, two jack-up rigs were secured by Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding and two semi-submersible rigs by CIMC Raffles.
