COSCO Seals Small Eco-LNGC
A newbuilding contract for 28,000 cbm LNG carrier, signed between China’s COSCO (Dalian) Shipyard, Inteh Group and vessel designer BESTWAY, officially took effective recently.
The deal is for construction of China’s first small, green energy LNG carrier which is applied with hybrid propulsion system complying with China’s green energy standards. In addition, the contact contributed to boosting COSCO (Dalian) Shipyard’s market share in China's high-tech shipbuilding area with adding orders in a slow record of small LNG carrier market in China.
Inteh’s 28,000 cbm newbuild is a small LNG carrier boasting the most advanced technology among the existing LNG carriers in the world, being fitted with a C-type liquefied containment system and a hybrid engine propulsion system.
Moreover, the newbuilding LNG carrier is an eco-friendly vessel meeting up with China Classification Society’s GreenShip II standard. The vessel is planned to be completed in 2015 and will be utilized for the second shipping between large LNG carriers, LNG importing terminals and LNG satellites.
