Scorpio Tankers’ latest share issue could lead to additional orders for eco MR newbuildings.
The New York-listed company secured over $130m from investors and is said to be planning to order more eco ships at Korean yards.
The owner targets early delivery in 2014 and intends to order sooner rather than later.
Scorpio now has five eco newbuildings on order at Hyundai Mipo Dockyard.
It may order further newbuildings at HMD or go to other shipyards such as SPP Shipbuilding or STX Offshore & Shipbuilding or else.
