Denmark's Norden has sold 2011- and 2012-built ships as it looks forward to taking delivery of "greener" newbuildings.
The shipowner has reportedly disposed of two 82,000DWT bulkers built in 2011 and 2012 each.
It also sold three 33,000DWT handysize bulkers built in 2011 and 2012, to a Greek owner for some $60m en bloc.
Instead, Norden recently signed a newbuilding contract for an ice-class fuel-efficient panamax bulker with a Japanese shipyard.
Norden is also waiting for two handysize PC newbuildings from China’s Guangzhou Shipyard International, which is claimed to be 25% more efficient than existing similar ships.
