S&P: Bulker Resale Active
Bulker resale from shipyard is said to lead the S&P market in the summer vocation.
Jiangsu New Yangzijiang Shipbuilding recently announced that the company has resold a pair of 82,000dwt Kamsarmaxes to a Polish owner at $25.0m apiece, a little higher than the assessment on VesselValue.com ($23.8m). The shipyard said it is normal for shipbuilders to resale the vessel if original owner cancels the vesse;. According to domestic shipowner, the bulker duo were originally ordered by Sanfu Hope Full Grain Oil Group in January 2010. The contract included five same units of $33.0m each and was originally scheduled to deliver by this September.
Tsuneishi Group (Zhoushan) Shipbuilding resold its “MV Amphitrite” to Diana Shipping. The vessel is one of the eight series a Japanese company ordered at the shipyard. Jiangsu-based Tsuji Heavy Industry also sold the “Fengli 12” to Brazilian owner Norsul Navegacao at $20.0m. “Fengli 12” is one of the seven 30,000dwt bulker series compatriot Glory Asia Ocean Shipping ordered at Tsuji HI last January.
In Korea, Sinokor Merchant Marine purchased a new-built Capesize “Sungdong 1111” from Sungdong Shipyard. The vessel was originally ordered by Cido Shipping HI in January 2009.
According to Golden Destiny, the resale of large bulkers is extremely active due to the low value. Many Japanese shipbuilders are beginning to resell vessels cancelled. Glocal Japan is trying to dispose its 2007-blt Handymax “GL Primera”. NYK is also offloading the vessel “Global Ocean” built in 1997.
