Germany’s Jaegers Group has returned to Groningen in The Netherlands for two small but specialised LPG carriers.
The 2,700 cbm vessels, the Bayamo and Brisote, are expected to be delivered at the end of the first quarter of 2013 and the second around six months later, says Jaegers Group joint managing director Dr Gunther Jaegers.
He says talks are ongoing for another pair but not with the same Foxhall Shipyard, which is responsible for building the Bayamo and Brisote hulls. There are no options attached to the existing order.
Jaegers declines to comment on price but sources say the newbuildings are costing $17m to $19m each.
A final decision has still to be taken on where the final assembly of the Bayamo and Briscote will take place under Jaegers Group supervision, although it seems likely to be Foxhall.
Foxhall previously handled completion of two earlier Jaegers Group 2,700-cbm newbuildings, the Typhoon and Twister (both built 2010), for which the hulls were constructed at Groningen Shipyard.
