Chinese owner Jiangsu Ocean Shipping (Josco) continues to expand its fleet with two more newbuilding orders.
An official at the Nanjing-based company says Josco has returned to Sino-Japanese yard Nantong Cosco KHI Ship Engineering Co (Nacks) for a pair of 58,000-dwt supramax bulkers, bringing the total number of ships it has under construction there to four.
“The earlier two newbuildings were booked in 2009, while the latter two were inked early this year,” said the Josco official.
The company says Nacks is slated to deliver all four vessels during the second half of 2012. Josco did not disclose the exact cost of the newbuildings but says it is paying in excess of $30m per ship.
