Singapore-based ship owner U-Ming Marine Transport has received its new 188,000dwt bulk carrier M/V Cape Success from Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC).

U-Ming Marine said that the vessel, which measures 299.8 meters in length and 47.5 meters in width, has a streamlined hull that utilizes low resistance anti-fouling paint, a ballast water treatment system and various energy-saving machinery and equipment.

The vessel is also equipped with the new G70 type-ME engine thus overall reducing the fuel consumption by as much as 20%, the company added.

U-Ming has been ordering new fuel-efficient and environmentally-friendly vessels at low prices since 2010. The company's orders include a series of eight 188,000dwt Capesize vessels from Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipyard.

M/V Cape Success is the sixth eco-ship to be delivered after the launch of M/V Cape Excelsior in April 2015.

The vessel is also the tenth Capesize delivered by Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding to U-Ming so far.
