Samsung Heavy Industry has inked totally eight LNG carriers orders worthy thismoth. Six of the cariers is from Oslo-listed Golar which has penned four 160,000-cbm vessels at the yard and also has options for four more. The other two was from from GasLog and the Greek shipowner has booked two 155,000-cbm LNG carriers at the yard.
Golar said the orders were clear from the continued strong global LNG demand and supply growth that a significant amount of new infrastructure. The ships will be successively rolled by 2013 and 2014.
While GasLog chief executive Jeppe Jensen said the company has recently ordered LNG newbuildings at Samsung but he would not say in detail. An industry insider said, "GasLog has ordered two firm and two optional ships. Options would be exercised by the end of July."
