SHGSIC builds Precious BC
A newbuilding contract for two 38,500 dwt bulkers turned out to have taken effect, which was signed between China’s Shanhaiguan Shipbuilding Industry (SHGSIC) and Thaiand’s Precious Shipping.
The bulker newbuilds are the same size with 38,500 bulker series being built at SHGSIC yard, designed by China Ship Design & Research Center (CSDC) as energy saving and eco-friendly vessel. Compared to existing vessels, the newbuildings have an imized design while saving fuel consumption through low-speed operation.
Each of the newbuildings has 182m of length and 30m of breadth with 14.8m of height while design and structural drafts are said to be 9.5m and 10.5m, respectively. It is designed and built classed by ClassNK, planned to be Singaporean-flagged vessel.
Meanwhile, the Chinese yard and Thai owner contracted further agreement for one 20,000 dwt cement carrier for delivery in November 30, 2014. This newbuild has 157m of length, 25.5m of breadth with 13m of height, which is known as the largest scale among self-unloading cement carriers placed at Chinese yard.
