Chengxi sits on 50-some NBs

China’s state-owned shipbuilder CSSC Chengxi Shipyard is said to have its slots scheduled till the first quarter of 2017 with orderbook of 50 vessels.

An official at Chengxi said as above at "Marintec China 2013", mentioning that the builder had inked contracts focusing on 64,000 dwt bulker which cost around $27-28m apiece with total contract value expected to be around $1.4bn.

Major owners having signed with the Chinese yard are based in Italy, Hong Kong and Singapore.

Meanwhile, around 10 newbuildings were delivered in this year so far, which is similar amount as that of the previous year. The delivery is said to be ranked in top 10 in dwt terms for 2013.
