A Chinese yard is planned to be receiving a new order for six Ultramax bulkers over the next six months from Amer Shipping Limited (ASL) of the UK-based Foresight Group for delivery from 2016.

Amulya Mohapatra from ASL who is in charge of this newbuilding project unveiled that the company was under a final stage of negotiation with a Chinese yard without disclosing specific name of the yard, reported by TradeWinds.

The newbuilding price seems to come at $25m for each unit, lower by $2m apiece compared to eco-friendly 64,000 dwt bulkers (eight vessels) placed in October at China’s Yangfan Group by Kiran Holdings based in Turkey.

ASL will deploy the newbuildings at trading of coal import in India and Ultramax is being preferred in Indian bulker shipping market, Mohapatra said.
