China’s Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding (SWS) turned out to have successfully delivered its 300th newbuilding.
The state-owned and CSSC-affiliated builder had been awarded an order to construct a 206,000 dwt bulker with new concept from U-Ming Marine Transport of Taiwan. The Chinese builder independently carried out development, design and construction of the vessel and held a naming ceremony of the newbuilding on October 30.
Named "Cape Stars", it is recorded as the 300th delivered vessel since June 22, 2003, when SWS made the first delivery. The Chinese builder's recent tonnage of yearly delivery is said to amount almost 4.70m dwt.
Meanwhile, SWS has bagged new orders for 51 vessels of 9.713m dwt in this year to October.
