Hyundai Heavy Industries of Korea won a contract to build three post-panamax large containerships from German shipowner, Hamburg Sud.
According to brokers and market players, delivery for the newbuildings is planned in the second half of 2014 with the price coming at a low $80m apiece.
Meanwhile, the Korean shipbuilding giant had held double naming ceremonies for “Cap San” Class 9,600 teu containerships on May 23 at its Ulsan yard for the same owner, Hamburg Sud. The builder is also to deliver four sisterships by January, 2014.
