DaeSun Shipbuilding & Engineering of Korea is about to win a newbuilding project from a domestic shipowner.
Heung-A Shipping revealed in a regulatory filing on April 23 that it decided to invest in four newbuildings of 1,000 teu full containerships for a fleet renewal in preparation for its aging boxship tonnage and DaeSun is a strong candidate.
According to market players, both parties are planning to enter into an agreement as early as the end of this week or the beginning of next week.
Meanwhile, Heung-A is placing the order for four 1,000 teu ships, adopting BBC-HP (Bare Boat Charter with Hire Purchase) with a value of investment worth $20m per ship. The newbuildings are slated for delivery from the fourth quarter of 2014 to the second quarter of 2015.
