A contract Wuhu Xinlian Shipbuilding of China won back in 2010 from German shipowner FH Bertling is said to be cancelled. The deal involves with two 82,000 dwt kamsarmax bulkers for around 34m each.
An official at Bertling claims that the cancelled newbuilding turned out to have some mechanical failures, for instance, an engine trouble happened during a trial operation offshore and etc.
He also said that Wuhu Xinlian insisted that the newbuilding construction was completed normally last year however the shipowner could not agree with that; thus, the contract is now cancelled.
Meanwhile, the German shipowner keeps other construction going for the third vessel of the same vessel type series placed at Wuhu Xinlian without a cancellation.
