Oshima Shipbuilding of Japan recently signed a newbuilding contract for a pair of 75,000-dwt bulkers with Nordic Bulk Carriers of Denmark.

These Ice Class 1A newbuildings are scheduled to be delivered in 2015. Also, the contract includes additional options for two more.

Newbuildings price is said to be just above $30m per ship.

Oshima is proud of its track record of delivering Ice class bulkers. It built and delivered two Ice Class 1A 75,000-dwt bulkers, ordered by compatriot Sanko Steamship, in 2010 and 2011 each.

Particularly, these two vessels were chartered out to Nordic Bulk Carriers and after management crisis attacked Sanko, Nordic bought them from the Japanese owner.
