Sanoyas Holdings of Japan announced that it booked an order for one fuel-efficient 82,000-dwt bulker in January, through its report on closing accounts on January 31.
Having signed a letter of intent in the end of last year, the shipyard officially firmed up the contract in January 2013, which became Sanoyas' first newbuilding order since April 2012.
Meanwhile, the company's shipbuilding segment saw its revenue during April-December 2012 declined by 21% year-on-year to JPY 34.5bn ($379.5m). During the same period, Sanoyas delivered overall six newbuildings, while recording JPY 5.9bn of operating profit, down by 8% year-on-year.
