Dole could order reefer ship newbuildings as it seeks to renew its fleet.
The US-headquartered fruit company recently outlined potential investments, which included updating of its owned fleet with an average age of 21 years.
The firm owns six refrigerated containerships (built between 1989-1999) and seven conventional reefer ships (built between 1986-1995).
Since 2009, just four reefer ship orders have been placed, according to Clarksons.
