DSIC Won 3,900TEU Quartet
China's Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Co turned out to have won a total of eight 3,900TEU containerships, including four optional units, from Singapore's repeated customer Pacific International Lines.
Newbuilding price is said to be around $41m apiece.
A shipyard official said the newbuilding deal was signed in December 2012.
In August last year, PIL also ordered four 3,800TEU boxships at DSIC at just over $40m per ship.
On January 9, 2013, MacGregor, part of Cargotec, announced that it has secured an order from DSIC for 16 variable frequency drive (VFD) electric cranes.
They have been specified for four 3,900TEU container vessels being constructed for Singapore-based PIL.
The order was booked to the fourth quarter 2012 order intake. Delivery of the first ship set is planned for the end of October 2013; the other three are scheduled for delivery during the first half of 2014.
