China’s privately-owned Yangzijiang Shipbuilding has put up three 2,500TEU newbuildings for resale.
Original owners, known as German, have abandoned the contracts after paying a considerable amount already.
The three 2,500TEU boxships were originally ordered at around $50m per ship with standard payment condition of five instalments.
The German owners have already paid two installments but they walked away from the contracts as newbuilding prices have plummeted largely.
One of the trio is already built, while the other two are due to hit the water in May.
