Gefo has recently booked three 5,700DWT stainless steel chemical tankers at a Turkish shipyard, Tersan.
The German chemical tanker owner believes that a lot of scrapping of older vessels will occur over the coming years, creating rooms for state-of-the-art newbuildings.
The newbuildings are more expensive than normal stainless tankers as they will be equipped with high-specification environmental devices.
The three vessels, with options for three more, will be built at Tersan Shipyard for delivery in 2014 and 2015.
