US tanker owner Principal Maritime is reported to be proceeding with a purchase of three suezmax newbuildings, being built at Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME), from Almi Tankers of Greece.
The resale price is estimated to be around $55m per ship.
The newbuildings are scheduled to be delivered this year.
Meanwhile, US-listed DryShips has disposed of two suezmax newbuilding contracts at Samsung Heavy Industries, to a third-party buyer. The company paid $21.4m to get out of the contracts.
