It is reported Guangzhou Shipyard International has finally signed the contract for the construction of two 50,000dwt MR product oil tankers with Swedish owner Stena bulk.
Stena bulker and GSI have jointly developed this new 50,000dwt chemical tanker by applying new ship body design to lower energy consumption.
The contract price is said to be $40.0m a piece, much h igher than the newbuilding price of ordinary chemical tanker of the same tonnage.
