Algerian energy company Sonatrach is looking to order new LNG carriers to replace its ageing tonnage.
The state-owned company’s shipping arm, Hyproc, is set to retire a trio of 1970s-built LNG vessels after the newbuildings arrive.
Hyproc is now pre-qualifying shipbuilders for three LNG carriers in the 155,000-cbm to 170,000-cbm range.
Deliveries are set for the end of 2015 to the third quarter of 2016.
