Some shipping experts predict that dry bulk shipping market is likely to recover in near future with newbuilding price for bulk carrier becoming stable after declining all the way.
However, the sport freight market has seen steep fall just in last week with Capesize bulker freights bumped by 45%. On the other side, newbuilding price from some shipyards with deficits has stopped the downturn momentum and grown stable recently.
According to security analyst Erik Nikola Stavseth, although the temporary stabilization of shipbuilding market doesn’t mean anything definite, it can be seen as the symbol for the warming up the dry bulker shipping. However, 2013 will be another challenging year for the market. The growing overcapacity, weakening of Chinese market and pressures from secondhand market all make the recovery of shipbuilding and shipping market full of uncertainties.
Besides, the overall shipping market is getting worse and the off season comes earlier this year.
