Korea's Hanjin Heavy Industries & Construction announced in a regulatory filing Monday that its Subic Shipyard in the Philippines signed a newbuilding contract on November 16th with a shipowner of Liberia to build two 9,000TEU class containerships.
The contract value stands at $163.3m in total for the two vessels.
They are scheduled for delivery by the end of September 2014.
But Hanjin added, "The contract will take effect after the shipowner secures ship financing by December 15th 2012."
