Japanese shipowner Nisshin Shipping has reportedly bought three 84,000DWT bulker newbuildings at Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries in Korea for around $25m per vessel.
The kamsarmax bulkers were originally ordered by Taiwan’s Today Makes Tomorrow (TMT) but the owner has failed to keep up payments on them.
The trio linked to Nisshin is set for delivery early next year.
Meanwhile, Transmed Shipping of Greece is said to be the buyer of the remaining four such vessels. Brokers say the company has paid around $24m each for the ships, which were completed already.
