Brazil's mining giant Vale is looking closely at the plan of LNG-powered Valemax newbuildings.
The company is mulling possibilities of using LNG to power its next generation Valemaxes.
Vale director of shipping Gurinder Singh recently said at the TradeWinds SmartShipping 2012 conference in Singapore that the Valemax design is suited for LNG-powered engines.
Meanwhile, Vale is now waiting for 13 more conventional diesel-powered Valemax newbuildings to be delivered from shipyards so it would take some time before the LNG-powered ones will materialize.
