Ship Trading on Decline in Later May

Till the end of May, international secondhand bulk carrier price has kept the decline momentum since first half month, while secondhand tanker price gained mild rise and secondhand containership remained the same level against last period. In this period, 28 secondhand vessels were reported to have changed hand, including 14 bulkers, 6 tankers, 4 containerships, 3 LPG carriers and 1 chemical tanker. The average age and average tonnage for those vessels were 13.32 and 54,198 dwt, which were 3.23% and 21.34% higher respectively compared with last week.

Domestically, the secondhand market has seen decreasing transactions and basically similar price trend with international market. Totally 68 vessel have changed hand in the period with 145,407 dwt and CNY 468.m, increasing by 21.84%, 30.91% and 193.53% against last week.

The newbuilding market has been stable both internationally and domestically. 28 new orders were report with an increase of 16.67% in international market and 6 new orders only domestically.

At the same time, international ship scrapping market underwent slight drop in the period while domestic scrapping rate continued declining for 3 straight weeks.
