Neptune Orient Lines (NOL) has sold an elderly containership for demolition in advance of the delivery of the first in a series of newbuildings.
The Singapore-flagged 3,415TEU APL Topaz (built 1989) has reportedly been sold into the Indian subcontinent.
The ship is the latest in a series of smaller sized ships to head for demolition as owners are scheduled to take delivery of newer, more-efficient ships.
NOL’s liner arm APL is to start taking delivery of a series of ten ultra-large containerships next year.
