London-based Gibsons recently points out that the delivery date of newbuilt vessels influences the asset value of secondhand ship in reseals.
Grand China Logistics (GCL) has recently sold a new-built 176,000dwt bulker carrier “Bulk Loyalty” to a Greek owner at a price of $37.0m. The vessel was delivered last month by Jinhai Heavy Industry.
At the same time, MOL purchased a 205,000dwt Capesize at about $52.0m from Japanese builder Universal. The vessel is scheduled for delivery by August 2013. The transaction price is almost 40% higher than that of the similar tonnage bulkers built in China.
