Jinhai Heavy Industry has recently contracted two optional ultramax bulkers with Laskaridis Shipping.
The owner has confirmed that it has extended its series of ultramax bulk carriers on order at the Korean yard to a potential six vessels.
Laskaridis initially contracted two firm units of 64,000 dwt at Jinhai in spring this year and has now exercised two contractual options, bringing to four the number of vessels expected at intervals of about three months over the course of 2014.
The bulkers are believed to be costing about $25m per vessel.
The new move adds a new pair of options that, if exercised, would see the vessels delivered in 2015.
