Samjin Wins Eco BC
Samjin Shipbuilding Industries Korea Co., Ltd. (SSI Korea, Chairman: Young Il Kang) announced that it has received new order to build 2 units (including one option) of the latest eco-friendly fuel efficient 36,000DWT bulk carrier.
The order was made by Ultrabulk Shipholding (Singapore) Pte., Ltd., one of the leading dry bulk operators, which currently runs more than 100 chartered and owned bulk carriers in world wide.
Both companies held a contract signing on July 12th.
The newly ordered eco-friendly vessels are scheduled for delivery within 1st half of 2014.
This new contract is meaningful for SSI since it is a new contract within one month after SSI’s recent contract signing last month for the same type bulker.
Back on June 21 Samjin also signed a contract for two 36,000-dwt eco-friendly bulkers with German owner Oldendorff Carriers, with optional two more.
The newly-developed handysize bulkers, due to be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2013, have enhanced fuel efficiency, equipped with 35-ton crane, ballast water treatment system, etc.
Meanwhile, Japan's Oshima Shipbuilding also won an order for one plus one Eco design 38,000DWT bulker from Ultrabulk early this month.
