Daesun Shipbuilding & Engineering of South Korean signed a contract for one 1,000-teu boxship with Marshall Island-based ship owner, with one additional option, on June 28.
The newbuilding, valued around $19.5m, will be chartered out to Korea Marine Transport Co (KMTC) and is due to be delivered in the end of 2013.
Also, Daesun revealed that several LOIs for 1,000-teu containership, 52,000-dwt product carrier, 35,000-dwt bulker, etc., have already been signed and are soon to be finalized.
Daesun is working hard to diversify products portfolio, develop energy-efficient vessels and focus on winning orders for MR tanker, handy bulker, small-sized gas carrier and offshore supply vessel.
