Pacific Mulls Five New Drillships

Pacific Drilling, now controls a fleet of six ultra-deepwater drillships and has a seventh unit on order, seems to be positive on the ultra-deepwater drilling market.
Recently, Pacific Drilling's chief operating officer Bob MacChesney said the company was mulling over the possibility of ordering another five drillships.
Meanwhile, the company has secured a five-year charter contract worth over $1bn for its latest drillship newbuilding with US oil major Chevron.
The deepwater rig Pacific Sharav, scheduled for delivery from Samsung Heavy Industries yard in South Korea in the fourth quarter of 2013, will be capable of operating in water depths of up to 12,000 feet and drilling wells up to 40,000 feet deep.
