Taiwanese carrier TS Lines is adding more tonnage to its growing fleet with a fresh order for up to four 2,900 teu containerships at China’s Fujian Mawei Shipyard. The Hong Kong-listed owner has signed for two firm vessels with options for two more, although pricing and delivery dates have not been revealed.

The move extends a partnership that began in 2021 when TS Lines kicked off a major newbuilding push at Mawei. That programme included eight 1,100 teu ships and six 2,900 teu units—the largest containership project ever handled by the Fujian builder, with both sides marking the completion of all vessels in January 2024.

Founded in 2001, TS Lines is today the world’s 20th largest liner operator with a fleet of about 40 ships, mostly deployed on intra-Asia routes. Its latest orders at Mawei come on top of contracts placed earlier this year at Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding for a series of 5,000–5,300 teu ships slated for delivery in 2028 and 2029.

TS Lines is not the only owner to secure new capacity at Mawei. Singapore’s Eastern Pacific Shipping and Oslo-listed MPC Container Ships have also been linked to new orders at the yard as owners continue to lock in slots amid steady regional demand.
