ST Engineering's marine arm ST Marine picked up contracts worth about S$75m ($59.8m) to build two anchor handling tug supply (AHTS) vessels for Swire Pacific Offshore Operations (SPO), wholly-owned by Swire Pacific.
Construction on the new AHTS vessels are scheduled to start in 2013 and delivery is slated in the second quarter and third quarter of 2014 respectively.
The two AHTS vessels will adopt the DP technology and will have adequate tank capacities and clear deck space of about 650 square metres for other offshore applications.
“We are seeking to diversify our product range further in order to keep pace with the development of the industry and to support Swire's growth as well,” said Ng Sing Chan, president at ST Marine.
The latest contracts are in addition to an earlier contract worth S$171m in June 2011 for the building of four AHTS vessels for SPO.
