Songa Bulk Offers Highest Bid for Efploia Bulker
Norwegian shipowner Songa Bulk has acquired Panamax bulk carrier Maverick Genesis for US$13.2m through an auction procedure, showed data from VesselsValue.
Bought from Greece-based Efploia Shipping, the 2010-built vessel was the final ship in the company's fleet.
Featuring 80,700 dwt, the Maverick Genesis, constructed by South Korean shipbuilder STX Offshore, has a market value of US$12.6m.
The purchase follows a number of Songa Bulk's acquisitions in late 2016.
Namely, in December 2016, the company purchased the 2012-built Supramax bulker Western Tokyo, and a month earlier, Songa Bulk bought the 58,700dwt Supramax Equinox Glory.
Also in November, the company bought the 2009-built Tenki Maru, and at the beginning of October 2016, the shipowner purchased the 82,700dwt Ten Maru.
