Nasdaq-listed tanker shipping company Teekay Tankers has inked an agreement to dispose of two of its 159,500dwt tankers, showed data provided by VesselsValue.

The two vessels, the LR2 tanker Ganges Spirit and the Suezmax tanker Yamuna Spirit, were sold to Greece-based shipowner New Shipping Ltd.

VesselsValue said that the 2002-built tankers were sold for US$16.2m each.

The vessels, constructed by South Korea's shipbuilder Hyundai Heavy Industries, have a market value of US$18.1m a piece.

Earlier in October, Teekay Tankers decided to exit the MR2 tanker sector as sold its final MR2 chemical tanker Hugli Spirit for US$13m to Norway's Champion Tankers AS.

The 46,900dwt vessel, which features a length of 183 meters and a width of 32 meters, was part of the company's fleet of 47 vessels.
