Bermuda-based tanker owner Nordic American Tankers Limited (NAT) received a Suezmax newbuilding tanker, the Nordic Star, built at South Korea's Sungdong Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering.

Featuring 158,000 deadweight tons, the vessel, which was named on Aug. 24, will be employed in the tanker market right away, according to the company.

NAT's second Suezmax newbuilding, the Nordic Space, is currently under construction at the same yard and is forecast to be delivered next January.

The tankers were ordered from Sungdong in December 2014 for a price of US$65m each.

At 84,000 gross tons, the vessels have a length of 277 meters and a width of 48 meters.
