Vietnam-based Prime Shipping Corporation is enlarging its fleet. The Southeast Asian tanker owner has bought the 12-year-old product tanker, Dong-A Pontus, from South Korea's Dong-A Tanker for US$10.3m.

The ship has already changed name to Prime Sky.

Prime Marine purchased its first vessel in 2007, and needs only one more ship to be able to boast a double-digit fleet list.

Additionally, the owner has been traveling around China looking at newbuiling opportunities. At the beginning of the year, the active outfit signed shipbuilding contracts with Ningbo Xinle Shipbuilding for the construction of two 26,300dwt chemical tankers with options to add another two.
