Japan's Penta-Ocean Construction has tapped compatriot Japan Marine United (JMU) to build the first domestically made self-elevating platform-type multi-purpose hoist vessel for wind farm installations.
The vessel will be built to a GustoMSC design. It will cost US$115m and will deliver in September 2018. It was eight years ago that JMU last built an OSV-related type ship.
As well as installing wind farms, the ship can be used in pier and breakwater construction of general repair work at ports.
