STX Offshore & Shipbuilding signed a contract to build an LNG carrier on September 15th.
The recent LNG carrier order is a result of a modification of a deal for two bulkers penned in July 2008 for around $210m, as per the request from the owner.
After order conversion, delivery is set for February 2015 with a price tag of around $197.5m for the new LNG carrier.
Greece's Angelicoussis also converted three VLCC orders at Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering into three LNG carrier orders in May this year.
Meanwhile, STX O&S won two plus two optional 170,200㎥ LNG carriers from Russia's Sovcomflot in May this year.
