UK owner and operator of chemical tankers Union Maritime has acquired two 52,000dwt chemical/product tankers for a total of US$46m, showed data provided by VesselsValue.
The 2009-built CPO Korea and the 2010-built CPO Japan were bought from the Hamburg-based shipping company Offen Group for a price of US$22.2m and US$23.8m, respectively.
The MR2 tankers, which were built at the South Korean Hyundai Mipo Dockyard, will join their new owner at a later date.
This latest acquisition follows the company's purchase of an LR1 product tanker Eagle Ray in January 2016. Featuring 75,000dwt, the 2000-built tanker was bought from the Greek shipping company Prime Tanker Management.
